I made sure that all of libgtk2.0-dev, libcairo2-dev, xvfb, xauth, xfonts-base are installed, but the error remained. On my system, XQuartz is installed, and Intrinsic.h is found within /opt/X11/include/X11 (which is also by the way of symbolic links /usr/X11/include/X11). In this case you better do what KenS suggested: run ./configure --without-x or ./configure --with-x=no. - The only problem is that we didn't realize that aterm requires Intrinsic.h, so all we need to do is add a dependency on the port that provides that, which is xorg-libXt.
- If you're stil not sure, try something like apt-cache show libxt-dev tendra to find out more about the packages involved.

I thought it was a symlink problem, so I checked where my X11 directory was and ran the following command: ln -s X11 /usr/include/X11 I ran make again but no difference. It was a simple case of a missing include file, where the only trick is to find out what package you need to install to get that file. (This is complicated Repeat the process until you have everything you need for the build. X11/intrinsic.h No Such File Or Directory Ubuntu I've been searching around but haven't found solutions.
