I'm ready to try anything my skill level can handle Adv Reply October 10th, 2008 #9 Steve H View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Way Too Much Ubuntu Join A working solution then could be to use another media or lower speed, as you did. Either cheap/bad media, or failing laser on the burner. Even upgrading to Intrepid did not solve this. Check This Out
Do you need me to open the computer and find it out? The discs are memorex dvd+r 8x. Do you need me to open the computer > and find it out? burn a dvd+r Actual results: the disc media is unwritable for X writer (it happens only on that disc and not on the other media of the same batch). https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=63531
Fixating time: 24.420s cdrecord: fifo had 3549 puts and 3549 gets. I've hadloads of problems with k3b recently, as well - so I justuse these two utilities now, and very good they are too !Deej Offline #3 2009-01-21 21:05:50 Ruckus Member From: I wanted to use Linux so badly.
- Still I can't eject the DVD from the drive.
- The thing is, Windows is so loudly put into poor regard, but I never had this many problems with it.
- I'm just trying to narrow down the possibilites of the problems we are all experiencing.
- The Plextor PX-800A works fine on the Windows side it just won't burn and has trouble playing.

- Hope that helps.
- For similar issues a new cable or a firmware update helps sometimes and you can also try different media type.

Even upgrading to Intrepid did not solve this. cdrtools seems to work a lot better for a lot of people including myself. his comment is here I cannot make a pattern yet. So it didn't worked. Others have reported that Verbatim and Sony also work.
You might want to use K3b DVD burning software. Got some TDK and they worked! If it was a DVD-R[W] medium. "COMMAND SEQUENCE ERROR" @LBA 0h.
I still have DVDs from 2001 that pass crc checks today (TDK/Pioneer). Although I've no direct proof I suspect that the new libata changes are the cause of the problem as in both my previous gentoo install and the puppy live cd the Thanks in advance for any help Adv Reply September 28th, 2008 #2 Steve H View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Way Too Much Ubuntu Join Date Feb 2007 Location RBU 100.0% UBU 0.0% :-[ [email protected]=0h failed with SK=0h/ASC=00h/ACQ=02h]: Input/output error :-( write failed: Input/output error [[email protected] ~]$Maybe its because it uses the new driver that causes it to be seen

This writer needs patch to write twice (see 799299), so maybe it still needs more patching. Apps like xfburn, Brasero are using libburnia as their backend.Brasero uses libburn if you install it explicitly.
